REACTION Course REACTIONMENTARIALISM aka Team Strategy: How To Move 52 Gallons of Dry Cement From Point A to Point B Without Touching the Floor!
Summer campers broke into small groups bright and early this sunny, humid Monday and were tasked with mini-‘missions’ to complete. Each mission had several obstacles to navigate through, around, over and under…for instance, move all members of your team into a large wooden crate with the aid of one 2” X 4” X 8’… and no ONE can touch the floor at any time... then move them out the opposite side the very same way. Team leaders, chosen at the onset of the exercise, called out directions to waiting team members. As teams discovered the importance of thinking completely through their solutions before proceeding, they also learned to move quickly before the whistle shrilled, signaling time to move on to the next challenge. “Hey, team brainiacs…I know I wasn’t elected Team Leader, but I just had a thought…and it COULD really work. Wanna’ listen to me?” and so the strategizing carried on. The morning went by very, very quickly!
… about hefting those 52 gallons drums of dry cement overhead...psych! They’re large, blue, plastic EMPTY drums simulating the real thing!
